AJRS Record Label: Everything You Need to Know About This Music Company
AJR Records is not actually a record label - it's a common misconception. AJR, the indie pop band consisting of brothers Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met, has released music through various labels including Warner Music Group's S-Curve Records and more recently through Mercury Records/Republic Records (a division of Universal Music Group).
The band initially started as an independent group, producing and recording music in their living room in Manhattan. While they didn't create their own record label, they maintained significant creative control over their music by writing, producing, and mixing most of their songs themselves.
Their major label journey began in 2013 when they signed with S-Curve Records/Warner Music Group. Under this partnership, they released their breakout single "I'm Ready" and their debut album "Living Room" in 2015.
In 2019, AJR moved to Mercury Records/Republic Records, where they've released several successful albums including "Neotheater" (2019), "OK Orchestra" (2021), and "The Maybe Man" (2023). This label change has helped expand their reach while allowing them to maintain their distinctive DIY production style.
So while AJR isn't associated with a specific "AJR Records" label, they've worked with established record companies while keeping their unique creative approach intact. Their success story demonstrates how artists can maintain artistic independence while partnering with major labels for distribution and promotion.
