Jay Z owns Roc Nation Records, which he founded in 2008 after leaving his position as president and CEO of Def Jam Recordings. However, this isn't his first venture into the record label business. Previously, he co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records in 1995 alongside Damon Dash and Kareem "Biggs" Burke.

Roc Nation Records operates as a full-service entertainment company, not just a traditional record label. It's a subsidiary of the larger Roc Nation company, which handles various aspects of entertainment including artist management, music publishing, touring, and merchandising.

The label has an impressive roster of artists across different genres. Some notable artists signed to Roc Nation Records include:

Rihanna
J. Cole
Vic Mensa
DJ Khaled
Willow Smith
Belly
Rita Ora

Before establishing Roc Nation, Jay Z's original label, Roc-A-Fella Records, was highly successful in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It was eventually sold to Def Jam Recordings in 2004, where Jay Z served as president and CEO until 2007.

Roc Nation Records has a distribution partnership with Universal Music Group, allowing the label to leverage Universal's global distribution network while maintaining creative control over its artists and releases.

The label continues to expand its influence in the music industry, signing new talents and developing existing artists. Under Jay Z's leadership, Roc Nation Records has established itself as one of the most prominent record labels in contemporary music, known for its diverse artist roster and innovative approach to music business.
