Recording Academy, MusiCares Launch $1M Relief Fund for LA Wildfire-Affected Musicians

The Recording Academy and MusiCares have pledged $1 million to launch the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort, supporting music professionals affected by the devastating wildfires in the LA area.

The initiative comes as fires have destroyed over 2,000 homes in the Palisades and Eaton communities, severely impacting hundreds of musicians and industry professionals who lost both homes and equipment.

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares, emphasized the industry's commitment to supporting affected members of the music community. Laura Segura, MusiCares executive director, highlighted their focus on both immediate emergency assistance and long-term support services.

Eligibility Requirements for Financial Aid:

  • Minimum 5 years of music industry employment history
  • OR six commercially released recordings/videos/singles
  • Open to producers, live crew, tour bus drivers, managers, agents, A&R, makeup artists, costume designers, music video creatives, technicians, and other music industry professionals
